OpSage Release 0.9.6 - Make Your AI Restaurant-Aware

Every week, another generic artificial intelligence tool hits the market promising to revolutionize how businesses run. But if you operate multi-unit restaurant brands, you already know the problem: general-purpose AI doesn't know the difference between a comped meal and a voided ticket. It doesn’t understand dayparts, prime cost fluctuations, or how your specific brand-region hierarchy is structured.

To get real answers, technology and operations leaders have historically faced a frustrating choice: force everyone into a single, proprietary app, or spend months building custom data pipelines that general AI models still struggle to interpret.

With OpSage 0.9.6, we are changing that workflow entirely.

Instead of forcing you to abandon the AI tools your team has already adopted, OpSage is now available from any MCP-compatible AI client, including Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. Ask whichever AI tool you already use the same operational questions you would ask inside the OpSage app, and get the same accurate, context-rich answers. You don't need to replace your favorite AI. You need to make your AI restaurant-aware.

Headline Feature: Two Surfaces, One Subscription

Let’s be clear out of the gate: AI Chat inside the OpSage remains fully intact. Every native feature continues to work exactly as it did before. The new connector is simply an additional way in for analysts who live in Claude Desktop or executives who prefer ChatGPT.

Best of all, this dual-motion strategy is included at every pricing tier with no per-user fees. Adding another teammate, another manager, or another external AI connection never triggers a license conversation.

The Intelligence Layer in Production

With this release, any compatible AI client can connect to OpSage.

Once connected, your AI client gains access to a curated catalog of 20+ ready-made operational questions, covering dashboards, revenue trends, guest reviews, sentiment themes, system alerts, integration job statuses, dayparts, and holiday structures.

But this isn't just a read-only data feed. Your team can now:

  • Capture observations natively: Tell your AI client what just happened on the floor, "tomato prices jumped to $95 a case on Tuesday's order", and OpSage logs the observation to your central repository exactly as if you had typed it into our native application.
  • Handle routine updates: Refresh dayparts, update a business profile, add a new restaurant, or send team invitations directly from your preferred AI chat interface.

To ensure absolute operational control, any highly sensitive data modifications remain strictly protected within the core OpSage application.

Enterprise-Grade Access for the AI Connector

For VPs of Technology and Security teams, the AI connector is built to clear the exact same procurement bars as the core application.

Sign in routes directly through your organization's existing enterprise SSO. Tokens are short-lived, and every single request carries the actual user's identity into OpSage. Your existing role-based access controls apply instantly: if a regional manager doesn't have permission to see West Coast performance inside the app, their external AI client won't show it to them either. There are no shared keys, and there is no separate password management to worry about.

Reports Framework: Trustworthy and Reliable

For Finance leaders and Controllers, target metrics now save reliably under concurrent edits, apply at the correct regional or brand scope, and automatically propagate forward to future reports. Furthermore, two-decimal precision is now perfectly consistent across the viewer, data exports, and variance calculations.

Frictionless Observation Capture

Documenting operational anomalies is the core of driving unit-level accountability, but minor friction can cause busy managers to skip it.

Now, when a manager opens an observation form from inside a report, OpSage automatically pre-selects the context. The brand, region, and specific restaurant fields are already filled out to match the report they were just looking at. It's one less form field to fill out, and it completely eliminates the risk of tagging the wrong location during a hectic shift.

How OpSage Redefines the AI Stack

Feature / Capability OpSage (0.9.6) Legacy Restaurant Platforms (R365, Toast, etc.) Legacy BI Tools (Tableau, Power BI)
AI Delivery Native App + Any MCP Client Strict Single-App UI Only Static Dashboards / Price-per-seat
Context Awareness  Built-in restaurant-logic substrate   Fragmented across modules  Raw data; no inherent operational context
Observation Logging Dictate to AI or log via report context Manual form data entry Read-only; no operational capture
Pricing Model Flat tiers; no per-seat fees for AI or App Per-seat or heavily gated modules Expensive per-viewer seat pricing

Legacy restaurant platforms require you to use their specific UI to get value. General AI tools plugged directly into raw POS data fail because language models don't naturally understand restaurant operations. OpSage provides the missing piece: a governed, restaurant-aware intelligence layer that sits underneath whatever surface your team prefers to use.
