OpSage Release 0.9.6 - Make Your AI Restaurant-Aware

Most tech companies want to win the war for your AI desktop. They want you to dump your current workflow, abandon your existing LLMs, and adopt their proprietary interface.

We think that’s the wrong approach.

If your tech team has standardized on Claude, your executives live in ChatGPT, and your analysts build internal tools with Gemini, you shouldn't have to change how you work just to get your restaurant’s data. You don't need to replace your favorite AI. You need to make your AI restaurant-aware.

With Release 0.9.6, OpSage is available from any MCP-compatible AI client. This is the first true production proof of our Intelligence Layer motion—moving OpSage from an architecture diagram to a live product you can use.

Headline Feature: Two Surfaces, One Subscription

The AI Chat inside the OpSage web application isn't going anywhere; it remains the core hub for your managers. The new AI connector is simply an additional way in for teammates who live inside specialized LLM clients.

Both surfaces are included at every pricing tier, with zero per-user fees. Connecting with another teammate or another AI client will never turn into a licensing conversation.

What’s New in 0.9.6

1. The OpSage MCP Server (Phase 1)

Instead of forcing you into our UI, Phase 1 of the OpSage MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server collapses the question of "Where do we use OpSage?" into "Wherever your AI already lives."

Using a single configuration snippet, you can connect Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, or Gemini directly to a curated catalog of 20+ ready-made operational tools. Query dashboards, revenue trends, day parts, custom holidays, Google Reviews, and sentiment themes directly from your favorite text box.

You can also capture operational observations and execute routine updates—like adding a store, refreshing day parts, or sending team invitations—without leaving your AI client. If a task requires deep administrative sensitivity, the system seamlessly routes the user back into the core OpSage app.

2. Enterprise-Grade Security for the AI Surface

Opening up your data to external AI clients shouldn't mean compromising on governance. The OpSage connector clears the exact same enterprise security bars as our core application:

  • Single Sign-On: Sign-in uses your existing corporate SSO.
  • Short-Lived Tokens: Access is tightly bound and highly temporary.
  • True Identity Attribution: Every request carries the actual user's identity, automatically enforcing their existing role-based access controls and location scopes. No shared keys, no security workarounds.

3. Trustworthy Reports: Target Persistence & Precision

Releases 0.9.4 and 0.9.5 stabilized our Business Reports infrastructure. 0.9.6 is where it becomes fundamentally reliable for finance and operations leaders.

If you bounced off the Reports viewer in 0.9.4 because of buggy save behavior, it’s time to come back. We have completely landed target-save consistency:

  • Target Persistence: Saved targets now stick, even during concurrent edits.
  • Forward Propagation: Targets automatically roll forward to future weekly report periods.
  • Two-Decimal Precision: Financial values, percent changes, and variance calculations are perfectly uniform across the viewer and all exports.

4. Zero-Friction Context for Observation Capture

Capturing localized observations is the habit that separates top restaurant brands from the rest. To eliminate friction during a busy shift, launching an observation form from inside a specific report will now automatically pre-select the Brand, Region, and Restaurant. Managers have one fewer form field to fill out, removing minor blockers that impede documentation.

How OpSage Lines Up

Feature / Capability OpSage (0.9.6) Legacy Operational Apps (Toast, R365) Legacy BI Tools (Looker, Tableau) General Purpose LLMs
Interface Strategy Dual-motion: App UI + Extensible AI Connector Single app UI only; locked to their dashboard Separate portal disconnected from operations Chat window with no intrinsic business logic
Pricing Model Flat tiers; no per-seat fees for AI or App Per-seat or heavily gated modules Expensive per-viewer seat pricing Per-user SaaS licensing
Restaurant IQ Out-of-the-box awareness of day parts, sentiment, structure Rigid data tables; no flexible language layer Requires complex, custom data engineering Completely blind to operational restaurant schemas

  • vs. Restaurant Platforms: Legacy tools force you to use their UI to extract value. OpSage lets you choose: use our native app, or query the same governed data layer through your preferred AI interface.
  • vs. General AI & BI Tools: Generic AI understands language, but not restaurants. BI tools sit miles away from operations and strap you with per-viewer seat costs. OpSage gives analysts restaurant-fluent tools in their preferred AI client while equipping managers with seamless reports in the application—all without a per-user licensing conversation.
